There were seven particularly notable B2B content marketing gems to come out of the recent Content2Conversion conference in New York, according to actionable marketing expert Heidi Cohen. In prefacing her list of the top takeaways from the event, she wrote, “Content marketing must be an integral part of your organization’s corporate strategy, allocated appropriate resources, both human and financial, because it creates strategic corporate assets that in turn help build your revenue stream.”

In reference to a recently published infographic depicting the content marketing landscape, Content Marketing Experience points out that the modern view of content marketing has become all the rage in 2013, though it really started booming in 2012 with Lee Odden’s book Optimize. “This focus is entirely understandable,” they wrote, in explaining the shift. “The growing attention for content marketing is coming from social media (both go hand-in-hand) and from post-Penguin search engine marketing requirements.”
Optimize Author Featured in “Great Quotes by Top Bloggers”

Eloqua Shares Actionable Marketing Tips from Content2Conversion Speakers
The Eloqua Blog recently shared their top tips from Content2Conversion in New York, with Lee Odden’s unique perspective on RIO making their list. “Return on Objective (ROO) is another way to think about ROI,” they quoted Odden as telling conference participants. “Think of your content initiatives as the building blocks to conversion. ROI doesn’t always materialize at the very moment of consuming content, so to progress buyers through the funnel, marketers have to leverage content to give them other places to go and actions to take with other content.”

Fantastic blog! Do you have any suggestions for aspiring writers?
I’m planning to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on everything.
Would you advise starting with a free platform like WordPress
or go for a paid option? There are so many choices out there that
I’m totally confused .. Any recommendations? Cheers!

Thanks Gordon. WordPress as a platform is free, but customizing and hosting will cost a little which are more than worth it. We just launched a new company website built entirely on WordPress.
